Kidrobot loves Swatch

Kidrobot has team up with Swatch on a special eight-watch collection.
Each watch has a limited edition number and comes in special packaging
along with a Dunny partner.

Coloring Book by Jeff Koons

Royal Academy of Arts has a colourful Jeff Koons sculpture at the
centre of the Annenberg Courtyard. It arrived from Metropolitan
Museum in NYC where it was displayed on the rooftop sculpture
terrace.

The transparent gloss paint has been applied onto surface.
I love how the colours are blending into the building. The reflective
surfaces give an illusion of the whole work being transparent.
They were a few people standing next to me. They said ‘that's rubbish’
but I totally disagree. Its' well worth of visit. It will be there all summer.

Miró at Tate Modern

Sunny day out in London is like the best treat even better if you have
a good company. Tate Modern has brilliantly brought Miro to life
again in a refreshing exhibition. The exhibition showcases more
than 150 works from the artist who died in 1983.

The artist worked in Barcelona and Paris, reflecting responses
to the Spanish Civil War and the first months of the Second
World War in France.

Fantastic exhibition, showed he was truly radical artist who
produced beautiful work. This is a must see exhibition.

It's running until 11 September 2011.

Robert Mapplethorpe: Night Work

This exhibition curated by The Scissor Sisters at Alison Jacques

gallery in London, there are the infamous black and white

Mapplethorpe’s originals prints and contemporary artists work

influenced by his legacy.

Two naked men dancing, a leather spanking whip floating around
and two sensual erotic legs getting my attention.

Of course, there are the usual shockers.

He said "I come from suburban America. It was a very safe environment

and it was a good place to come from in that it was a good place to leave."

The exhibition is on until the 19th March so I highly recommend it.

Zaha Hadid in Colour

Hey! Hey! Hey! Long time no speak but here I am again as I hit
the streets of Shoreditch. It was full of people hunting for Christmas
bargains but I snapped some pictures for you.

I love Christmas, it’s great and it makes me feel all fuzzy and warm
on the inside. Although, I don’t feel Christmassy this year, well not yet.
Maybe the magical carol setting at St Paul’s Cathedral will make it
all happen, I let you know.

Rene Gruau & the Line of Beauty

Last Saturday, Justyna and I popped along to Somerset House
to see the ''Dior Illustrated: Rene Gruau & the Line of Beauty'' exhibition.
We just loved it! He created one of the most iconic fashion images
of 20th Century and he worked with Christian Dior as an illustrator
for decades. His illustrations are timeless and inspiring. Gruau influenced
the graphic design style of a whole generation of fashion illustrators.

Of course, his beautiful illustrations were so inspiring that I thought
it will be a good idea to start drawing again, actually I’ve drawn something!

Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion

This is the first exhibition in Europe to survey avant-garde Japanese
Fashion, from the early 1980’s to now. Designers Issey Miyake,
Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto have had an enormous impact
on the worlds culture.
There are also rooms that showing catwalk collection films, interviews
and documentary on Yamamoto Notebook of cities and clothes.
Im not an expert in fashion but this exhibition is unmissable.

Also, I don’t normally post a lot of photos but this time is so worth it.

The exhibition continues until 6 February 2011 at Barbican.

Converse

Converse collaborates with Bernard Summer from Bad Lieutenant,
New Order and Joy Division and Joe (Hot Chip) and released a single
that celebrates the UK music scene, titled 'Didn't Know What Love Was'.
Download here for free.

In January, Converse will release a second track, featuring musician
Graham Coxon, Paloma Faith (I love) and Bill Rider Jones.
I think, I will like this song.

I remember, when I was a teenager I was wearing converse but I don't
find them very comfotable now. I like the new campaign and I know they
have been throwing some parties around East Side. Oh My God, there
is a giant painted wall in Shoreditch which I loooveee...see pictures below.

Also, Damien Hirst's 'All You Need is Love' butterfly painting sold at auction
for 2.42 million, but now that he has placed it on a Converse (Product)

Urban Street Artists

I work in East London and I absolutely love walking on

the streets. There are so many little galleries, design

shops and advertising companies but the most impressive

is the urban street art. Urban artists have now developed

their work into a whole range of forms: paintings, sculptures,

posters, stencilled pictures are just some of those that

I discovered almost every day.

It’s all about Shoes...

I’m not an expert but I couldn’t resist posting this sneak peek
of Manolo Blahnik's new range for Liberty. Also, department
store Selfridges in central London opened its new, expanded
shoe department, set to be the biggest in the world.

I thought girl’s best friend were diamonds but these days is
all about shoes!

100% Design Highlights

Design week was fun, nine days of inspirational design.

Almost everywhere, there was an eye-catching exhibition and

installation in London. As a part of the Design Festival, I visited

100% Design at Earls Court, afterwards Tent London at the old

Truman Brewery. There were some design pieces that stood out

such as the Bench (made in Poland), Czech glass collection,

stunning surreal objects created by Stephen Johnson

and the Bocci Chandeliers.

I enjoyed walking around with friends but my energy was going

down the hill and my feet, body started to ache. Of course a good

lunch and a cup of coffee made me awake and ready to do it all

over again...not really.

Victoria and Albert Museum

UK Designer Stuart Haygarth has created an amazing
picture-frame offcuts in stripes either side of a marble
staircase at the Victoria & Albert Museum for the
London Design Festival.

Victoria and Albert Museum has always been one of my favourite
buildings in London as you can see below, the light is coming
through the skylights and emphasising the wire vertical stripes
that neatly are holding a suspended ceiling.

I know, this is only in V&A.

The Perfume Diaries

There is surely no excuse not to get out in town this week. It’s the
Design London Festival (18th-26th September). Justyna and
I visited some interesting exhibitions.

Harrods introduces the first significant fragrance exhibition of

recent times, and a fascinating decade-by-decade chronicle

of perfume. A fine collection of vintage perfume bottles, pictures,

posters and even costumes.

The Perfume Diaries is running until 2nd of October. It’s well

organised and the people who works there, they are very helpful.

I saw his first painting piece months ago around Shoreditch area.

It was the rabbit that it looked furry from one angle and from the

other the creatures inside. Belgium Street artist Roa taken by

storm the streets of East End.

I love his work for the vivid sense of life that he gives to his

creatures.

It has been a long time since I noticed the alphabet letters on
the shutters at the East End shops. I was taking photos but
I didn’t know who was the street artist until David Cameron

gave one of his paintings to Barack Obama.

The painting, called, "Twenty First Century’'. I love his work

even before the publicity. Also, Im quite lucky as Im working

east side so I get the chance to see his new graffiti.

Sally Mann: The Family and the Land

Sally Mann is well known for the black and white photos of
her three children often naked or partially naked, as they
played and posed in the woods, lakes and rivers around her
home in rural Virginia. I visited the Photographers' Gallery last
Saturday. I have to admit I did like her work.

Henry Moore, Chicago

Long time not speak. Henry Moore is one of the great British
artist. I love his work so while I was in Chicago I came across
with one of his sculptures. Also, there is an exhibition in
Tate Britain.

Elephant Parade

There are over 250 model elephants around London at the moment.
They are part of the Elephant Parade, organised by the Elephant
Family charity. They are working hard to secure the existence of
the elephants on earth. You can help by donating here.

B&B Italia

B&B Italia is a leading Italian furniture company and its showroom
in London SW3 is a fantastic open space. Chad and I, we were
there last night. There is an exhibition about five products, five
photographers, five themes: the result is five artistic portraits
narrating the quality, versatility and exclusiveness of the B&B
Italia world. I can’t remember any of the above and there wasn’t
involved any heavy alcohol too. However, I snapped some photos
of their cool collection.

Grace Jones by Chris Levine

‘’Stillness at the Speed of Light’’ is on display at The Vinyl Factory

in London from April 30th until May 14th. Chris Levine’s work is

really cool and I love the 3D Grace Jones Portraits. Moving your

head from side to side, the image repeatedly flashes up and then

disappears. Also, The Vinyl Factory space is the best for those

kind of things. It's very sparkly and disco.

Pantone, as it is today, was founded in 1962, when the company
at the time a small business which manufactured colour cards for
cosmetics companies—was bought by Lawrence Herbert, who
had been an employee since 1956. I introduced to Pantone when
I was studding then it became a part of my job.

I do love their products and there are hundreds available through
Pantone such as Bags, Watches, Pillows, socks – you name it.

Hoxton by Night

Recently, I love taking photos at night. I thought tripod was

essential so it put me off a little bit. Well, it is essential if you

want to entry a competition or have high definition pictures.

In my case, I like walking along the streets and discover

things that catch my camera-ready eye. It does feel good

when I captured the atmosphere perfectly.

I discovered a little places, a little gems that warmed

my heart around Hoxton.

Irving Penn

I feel fortunate that I have seen Irving Penn’s Portrait Photographic
Exhibition at National Portrait Gallery. I admire his work for the
style, elegance and graphic simplicity. People will definitely
look at his work in 200 years’ time. I couldn’t take many photos
from the exhibition because of high security which is good but
not for my Blog. However, I managed to snap some shots.

Magma is every designer’s favourite book store. Nice for browsing,

I remember I used to go there and fliped through the Creative Review.

It has a great variety of design and style mags, comic, cartoon and

graphic novel stuff.

Just down the street, Magma has a shop for gifts, design products,
kitchen and homeware stuff and beautiful stationary. No doubt you
will find a nice present or even something for your self.

Finally, Kidrobot opened a shop in the UK at 19 Earlham Street
Covent Garden Seven Dials. I’m dangerously addicted to the art
toys, also, love the limited edition stuff such as apparel and
accessories. On my desk, I have placed my favourite Kidrobot
toys. it’s always a positive influence.

Deutsche Börse photography prize 2010

The Photographer’s Gallery introduces the four nominees

for this year’s Deutsche Börse Photography Prize.

The nominees are Donovan Wylie, Sophie Ristelhueber,

Anna Fox and Zoe Leonard. Each of them have markedly

different style but my favourite is Zoe Leonard.

She has a good eye and I love her photos.

Digital Design Sensations at V&A

Ι really enjoyed my day on Sunday. Daniele and I visited

the Decode Exhibition at V&A. Decode shows the latest in

digital and interactive design from small colourful graphics

to large-scale installations. Moving further in, the work

involves into larger installations that people can explore

and interact. There are many great pieces of work but it

stands out the ‘Weave Mirror’ and ‘Troika’.

It runs at V&A until 11 April 2010. It’s a fascinating show

and definitely get the buzz of what is coming next in

technology.

The Colour Experience

The last few years have seen a huge increase in the transfer

of coloured architectural lighting into the urban and exterior

environment. Part of the reason for this is that there have been

a number of important introductions in coloured lighting

technology.

When you are on a double decker bus, it is fascinating how

the city of London is so colourful. I do find it uplifting and

inspiring only when Im looking up at a very well lit building.

Light the town blue, red, yellow and others, however, don’t

make us ‘feeling blue’.

I was at the National Portrait Gallery this afternoon

and I have to admit it was extremely busy maybe

people are catching up with the latest cultural events.

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize

Exhibition present the very best in contemporary

portrait photography. Images taken from the

personal projects of their photographers hang

alongside editorial and advertising images.

One of my personal picks from the selection on

display is the First Prize: Rosie Bancroft by Paul

Flyod Blake. Rosie is a 13-year-old hopeful for

the Paralympics in 2012. I wish her all the best.

Golden Lane Estate is an iconic place with it’s own identity.

The doors opened less than a decade and half after of the

Second World War. The first residents arrived with spouses,

with families and with multitude of professions.

This exhibition follows nine of these residents, most of whom

have lived on the estate since it’s advert.

Kukka - Blocks Collection

Rona and I used to work together. Now, she is located in Israel

and runs her own successful company (rmk design office).

They have recently launched an online shop for a small scale

and limited edition objects made and produced by young design

makers. The name Kukka was inspired by her late grandmother,

used to Play Ku Ku baby game with her. Kukka Myriam: a woman

with sense of humour, temper, style and femininity.

They have created an impressive and stylish collection.

Blocks are functional, elegant, made out of solid beech wood

with no finish applied so they will darken with age.

I certainly love it! So, look no further here is the site to

Frederic Aranda - Kosherface

I was so looking forward to Frederic’s first solo show,

opening was last Thursday 12/11 in Shoreditch.

This exhibition follows the life and style of Orthodox

Jewish rabbis and their families from the Lubavitch

movement. He has been photographing them for the

last seven years. What a great idea. I was completely

taken by the pictures.

me realise how lucky I am to leave a free life. People who

travel from war torn, socially and economically devastated

countries, to make a new life in Europe. Originating from

Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Middle East.

The more you look, the more you realise that immigration

is a complex affair.

Liberty's Luella Christmas

I really enjoy walking around the city on Sunday. Good gosh,

the Christmas decorations are up already and the streets

are glowing. The shop windows are filled with holiday magic

and wonder.

Before hitting the high street you should definitely visit Liberty.
This Christmas sees Liberty teaming up with British fashion’s
first lady, Luella Bartley to create a festive experience unlike
any other. She made her mark on unmissable Christmas
windows, in-store tableaux and introducing a festive grotto
packed with kitsch must-have gifts.

She has turned the traditions of a British Christmas on their
head, playing on British Yuletide rituals to create a spectacle
to behold.

Luella Bartley, and guest star Father Christmas, open the
designer's in-store grotto this Monday (9th November)
evening at 6.30.

Anselm Kiefer at White Cube Hoxton Square

Sorry for the silence. I hope you missed me. Today, I walked

around Hoxton Square and I saw a new exhibition at White

Cube. There is a series of work by the internationally acclaimed

artist Anselm Kiefer. The paintings are allusive, not illustrative,

with an emphatic material and spiritual presence. His work is

on display across the two spaces - in Mason's Yard and

Hoxton Square.

Hoxton square is looking very wintery through the White Cube

windows.

Let’s have a cup of tea

I tend to drink a lot of tea every day during the winter. Actually,

I wasn’t drinking tea before unless I was sick which is wrong

because as a mild stimulant, tea may further increase the body

temperature. I love herbal and usually loose. I was walking

through Soho the other day and I spotted some beautiful

assorted tea items.

Pop Life at Tate Modern

Ι really enjoyed my day on Sunday. Nick and I had

a delicious lunch at the award-winning table cafe in

Southwark which is moments away from Tate Modern.

I highly recommended. Afterwards, we visited the

Pop Life (Art in material world) exhibition at Tate Modern.

The show stated aim is to investigate art’s supposedly

new relationship with the commercial world. It includes

artists such as Tracey Emin, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst,

Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami

and Richard Prince.

I should quickly add that I didn’t mind most of the seedy
sex in which this show is so rich.

My highlight was Murakaki’s video with Kirsten Dunst in
a blue wig and gingham stockings prancing around Tokyo
with a cast of Ginza girls miming Turning Japanese.
Ophs, I don’t know if this is a good or bad sign for the exhibition.

Dan Flavin at the Haunch of Venison gallery

Haunch of Venison London will explore the connections

between four major artists: Enrico Castellani, Dan Flavin,

Donald Judd and Günther Uecker. This important exhibition

will showcase works from 1964 to the present day.

All four artists were born within six years of each other

(1928 – 1933) and their practices offer an opportunity to

compare the strong aesthetic influences, interests and

objectives their generation shared, despite developing

on either side of the Atlantic.

This exhibition will be running until 31 October and it's free.

Pandamonium @ Selfridges

I was walking by Selfidges which has always inspirational windows.

This time there is a stunning visually collection call Pandamonium.

The people of WWF asked some of the UK’s leading artists such

as Sir Peter Blake, Tracey Emin, Jim Lamble, Rachel Whiteread

and Paul Smith to do something interesting with the charity’s

panda collection boxes.

These are a memorable artworks which will be auctioned on the

12 October to raised funds for WWF.

Im jealous I want one for my little pennies.

Tube deserve Art

I like the idea of having a series of pieces installed in adjacent

stations, so you can get a story as you go through. When I used

to live in Gloucester road. The tube station had a platform for

Art installations, often placed into the brick wall. It still does

which is great.

There was a time when they have been tearing off the old

posters and you were getting a scrape off art which was kind

of weird but in a good way. The walls of stations and platforms

are now plastered with uninspiring drivel, aimed at luring us

to the latest West End productions or Hollywood movies.

I'm not even gonna mention the big electronic screens.

Corian Lounge

us a desirable pieces of design. One of them was

the Corian Exhibition. Architect Amanda Levete

has created re-interpretation of lounge environment

for Corian. The results were great and the lighting as well.

We love Willie’s chocolate

On Sunday afternoon we went to the V&A to meet Jessie and Sophie.

We haven’t seen them for ages and we were so looking forward to it.

There were a special events to celebrate the opening of V&A ceramic

galleries. Willie Harcourt-Cooze (Jessie and Sophie’s brother) was

demonstrating hot traditional chocolate-making using replica 18th

century ceramic chocolatieres.

Oh my God...We tasted pure delicious hot chocolate with a kick!

I love dark chocolate so it was a real pleasure for me.

Hmm... The chocolate that doesn’t make you fat too.

TinTin Museum

Museum dedicated to Belgian artist and Tintin author Hergé,
designed by Atelier Christian de Portzamparc located in
Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium opened recently.

The building itself has a bright colours and sharp angles.
I cant wait to visit and Im so love TinTin too!

The 80's gave us a lot of things - shoulder pads, legwarmers,

big hair, and it also gave us digital watches. I adore the new

colourful watches from Casio, Adidas, Timex and Shark.

Urban Outfitters sells some of the more uncommon editions

of LED classics in tacky gold plate and wipe-clean white.

I have bought a gold one which I love it!

Live Forever: Elizabeth Peyton

After a refurbishment taking two years, The Whitechapel
Gallery reopened to the public. The old library next door
has been colonised and turned into a network of smart
galleries, reading rooms and studios. It was my first time
in the gallery and I have to say I loved it! Good Architecture
and well designed solid wood handmade furniture by Ark.

The paintings of Elizabeth Peyton were inspiring with
a luminous palette. Her influences such as Oscar Wilde
and Gustave Flaubert.

I recently spent another day wandering around
East End. One major reason to head out at Brick
Lane is that it is the best way to see street art.
Actually, I cant believe the amount of little hidden
art that you can find.

Jeff Koons: Popeye Series

Nic and I visited the beautiful Serpentine Gallery. There
is Jeff Koons exhibition. King of Kitsch, there is no another
way to say this. You will see inflatable toys, silicone-pumped
breasts of topless models, cartoonish insects, popeye without
Olive Oyl.

I was looking at a splashy, white-framed painting called
Moustache Lobsters and I thought banal. This could be a
pattern for a summer shirt. I wish I liked the exhibition but
his new work lacks of inspiration.

The Photographer's Gallery, London

Being one of those beautiful Summer afternoons

that makes you want to be on the beach unfortunately

holiday period is over so Steve and I went to The

Photographer Gallery. There are two exhibitions

‘Andre Kertesz: On Reading’ on the ground floor

and ‘Simon Foxton: When You’re a Boy’ on the

first floor.

Andre Kertesz was hungarian photographer who

often described as ‘the godfather of photojournalism'.

This exhibition is not about reading; it is about photography.

Steve loves his work and I'm pleased that I saw his

black-and-white photographs.

Simon Foxton has played a major part in the creation of

some of the most influential fashion imagery of the past

25 years. I love fashion magazines and I always keep them

in a boxes under my bed. His work is inspirational and innovative.

I loved it!

Street Art: Cat and Flying Mouse

I was walking along a street Market on the Whitecross St

during lunch time. I'm always looking at this funny stencil

image by Banksy. It is five years since I moved to London

and it's still stands on the wall. The Cat & Flying Mouse

have been joined by three dogs from another artist.

Liberty Lover

The best way to introduce myself on this blog is writing

about Liberty. Ah, Liberty...I love everything about that

store, it's pure retail perfection for me and just browsing

there and not even buying anything makes me happy.

This month celebrates the iconic Liberty print with lovely

exhibition on the 4th floor call Prints Charming. There is

a section showing how prints have been used by different

fashion designers in the past and also new collection of

fabric designed by six artist including Grayson Perry.

Also, the entire back wall of the building is covered in

Betsy fabric which looks great!

A couple days ago I met my gorgeous friend Marci, cocktails

for lunch at Terence Conran’s new Boundary Project in Shoreditch.

We went straight on the rooftop bar, fantastic views of North London.

There’s a hotel downstairs, a French restaurant in the basement and

the wonderful Albion caffe on the ground floor. Also, there is old school

farm shop with organic vegetables, cheese, jams, cupcakes (delicious)

and more.

The venue is very good especially the rooftop bar which is quite

popular on weekends and evenings. if you get cold there is always

colourful blanket to wrap your self. I definitely recommend if you haven’t

already visited.

Barbican - Radical Nature: Outdoor commission - Heather and Ivan Morison

I was walking through Barbican yesterday when I saw something

like wooden igloo, well not really. As part of the Radical Nature

summer show, the Barbican Art Gallery has built a pavilion by

the waterside. The double-domed pavilion takes its inspiration

from the structures built by utopian communities in the west coast

of the US in the 1970s. Designed as a tea house, it provides a place

of rest and shelter, where one is served hibiscus tea.

I am so sorry. Goodbye, by Heather and Ivan Morison, provides a

place for rest and shelter. Take some time and visit, it is open from

11am - 8pm daily (6pm Weds and 10pm Thurs), until 19th October.

The Barbican Radical Nature show is open the same times,

and runs until 18th October.

They say you can find and see anything and anyone

in London. Well I guess it must be true! The other day

my mate Petros called me to invite me for coffee to meet

a Greek-Cypriot female singer-songwriter who was for a

few days in London. Her name Lia Vissi sister of the best

selling female artist in Greece & Cyprus Anna Vissi.

They are the Kylie & Dannii Minogue of the Greek speaking

star system & music industry.

Lia Vissi was in London for some work on her comeback

CD titled "Apousia" meaning "Absence" out in September.

If you feel like listening to a power Greek-Mediterranean

voice with some soulful summer sounds, look no further.

Gay Icons, National Portrait Gallery, London

An exhibition of icons chosen by 10 gay public figures, and
invited each to choose six of their own heroes. The choices
were entirely personal, could be gay or straight, friends or family.
Actually there are faces on the walls are well known and straight.

Elton John chose to nominate his famous mates such as star
Winifred Atwell, John Lennon, his own songwriting partner,
Bernie Taupin, Gianni Versace, and the cellist, conductor and
human rights campaigner, Mstislav Rostropovich and Graham Taylor!

Walking through the exhibition and looking the walls I thought,
where are Kylie, Charlie’s Angles, Judie Garland, Raffaella Carra,
Oscar Wilde, Madonna e.t.c I guess worship the gayness is not iconic.

Today I met with Petro & Zdenek outside of Selfridges. They were in

French Riviera on holiday. I had to listen all about it. As often happens,

I saw the windows of Selfridges (always good) and captured my attention

the new Perfume Paul Smith Man Campaign.
